St Barnabas Minister |
Hi I'm Mike Russell the minister of St. Barnabas church at Firle.
I am married to Ally with four kids Luke, Adele, Anna and Phoebe.
Ally likes coffee, Luke likes soccer, Adele likes shoes, and the twins like 'In the Night Garden' - a kids' show.
I like watching most sport, reading the paper, wrestling with my son, Subway, playing touch football, playing the 'AFL Dream Team' game, and explaining Jesus to people.
I dislike olives, gardening and ironing.
For relaxation I like to watch a movie or TV show with Ally, reading and thinking about politics and finance.
My favourite 'head' verse is Luke 24:44-47 because it's the best summary of what the Old Testament says about Jesus.
My favourite 'heart' verse is Philippians 3:12-14 because it encourages me to strive forward forgetting my sin which is behind me- which is significant!

Children's Ministry Coordinators
Lyn and Steve Davis coordinate the Children’s and Families program at St George’s. Both former teachers, they recently moved from the country to take on this role. They believe that learning about Jesus can be enjoyable and fun, and that teaching from the bible will give children a good basis in understanding who Jesus is and why he came.
They aim to encourage parents, raising their children in a world full of competing demands, to include biblical teaching through stories so that the children grow in their understanding of the gospel. |

Our fearless Office Administrator and Paul
|
Rosanna is the friendly face who is in the front office
every morning, greeting everyone with a smile and able to help with
even the most difficult questions! After working in the clothing industry
for over 15 years, she is pleased to have had the opportunity to put
into practice the skills she has learnt through various courses of
study and the continued learning she has experienced through her role
as administrator of the church office.

Youth Minister
Lochy is a self professed “artsy nerd”. Having originally trained as a web designer, Lochy went on to do a masters in creative writing (he’s written a novel, but it’s not published yet) and then committed career suicide by doing a two year traineeship in christian youth ministry. He’s now gone on to study part time at bible college for two years. When asked why, he said he likes tough questions.
Lochy grew up in the church and on beach missions, surrounded by christians. But it wasn’t till he was about 18 that he discovered God was someone you could know - not just know about.
In his spare time, Lochy likes writing fiction,
talking with friends till 3am, acting, singing at mildly inappropriate times, and various weird hobbies with odd acronym names like “LAN”, “RPG”, and “40K”. |

Student Deacon
Hi, I'm Mark and this is my beautiful wife Fi and my gorgeous kids Josiah and Emily. I'm a student Deacon here at St Georges, which means that I'm learning from Paul what it means to be a Christian minister.
I'm studying a Bachelor of Theology fulltime at Bible College SA and plan to finish at the end of 2010. My wife and I love the community environment at College as we spend time with and get to know Christians from a variety of backgrounds. We also enjoy spending time with the kids, reading books (especially fiction) and sharing meals with friends. I also enjoy some amateur computer programming while Fi is a whiz in the kitchen.
Josiah, who is 2 years old, enjoys playing outside with cars and slippery dips, watching various Disney programs and the colour green. Emily, who is 8 months old, enjoys gurgling, having a swing, and the colour blue.
There are many Bible verses that I love, but the book of Philippians stands out. I particularly love Philippians 4:4-7 which encourages us to "rejoice in the Lord" whatever is happening, and to trust Jesus for our peace. |
